Automatic updates presented by Microsoft now include the Windows 10 operating system and up to 6GB of storage claimed on hard drives.
The download occurs in the background, unbeknown to the user. If the user has a slow Internet connection the update could impact other time critical activities and take up a significant chunk of a metered Internet connection.
Discovered by an Inquirer reader, the automatic download takes between 3.5 and 6GB of storage on the user’s computer. This update is proving an issue for tablet users, many of which only have a small amount of storage on their devices.
Microsoft said in a statement: “For individuals who have chosen to receive automatic updates through Windows Update, we help upgradable devices get ready for Windows 10 by downloading the files they’ll need if they decide to upgrade.”
