virtualDCS Marketing Executive, Nikki Towler is now officially a student mentor for Leeds Trinity University.
I’m proud to say that virtualDCS likes to give back to the community, which is why we actively support local charities, businesses, schools and universities. For example, in order to both boost the economy and help grow our business, we specifically employ apprentices to provide them with experience and help them to develop their skills whilst earning money. This is also reflected in the numerous placements students that we have accommodated over the last five years.
When Emma Roberts from Leeds Trinity University contacted me regarding a business mentor pilot scheme, I had no hesitation in accepting the position. The scheme is designed to pair up a student with a graduate mentor in a similar field, to help with the transition into graduate employment.
Emma Roberts from Leeds Trinity University said: “My main hope for the scheme is to support students in achieving the most important, but difficult, outcome that all degrees aim towards: a graduate level job. While Leeds Trinity provides plenty of support internally and offers professional work placements with every degree, the next step is to provide professional support that will help students complete the final transition from student to graduate.”
I’ll now be helping my mentee in applying for graduate roles and gaining additional workplace experience. To me there is no better way of giving back to an excellent University than helping graduates that are in the same position as I was a few years ago.
We hope that once again the help that virtualDCS provides will not only benefit the mentees and Leeds Trinity University, but also the local economy.
