virtualDCS supports TechUG Leeds
A Blog by Jason Newell, Channel Director.
We’re thrilled to announce that we’re sponsoring the next edition of TechUG in Leeds in October. TechUG Leeds is the Yorkshire community event for IT Ops, IT Infrastructure, Cloud, DevOps & Cyber Security Professionals.
virtualDCS’ Managing Director, Richard May will also be presenting at the event on Microsoft Office 365 data protection and our new solution CloudCover 365. We are delighted to have the opportunity to speak at such an event, to the region’s leading IT Professionals.
Microsoft may host your Office 365 data, but it’s your responsibility to protect it.
Many IT Managers don’t realise that Microsoft Office 365 doesn’t fully protect inputted data, and we want to raise awareness of this. It actually has limited backup and retention policies and isn’t intended to be an all-encompassing backup solution.
The average length of time from data compromise to discovery is over 197 days, yet Office 365’s default settings only back up data for 30-90 days. Some data even gets deleted after 14 days, leaving organisations more vulnerable than ever before.
Simple steps to data protection
Within his presentation, Richard will be discussing at how an organisation can rationalise data backup and recovery features that are native to the Office 365 platform, from both an admin (operations) and end-user perspective, including:
- Covering Your Assets: Office 365 Data Protection Measures for End Users and Administrators
- Managing and restoring the Recycle bin of a SharePoint site
- Restoring a deleted Office 365 Group
- Accessing and backing up former user’s data
- Restoring deleted files or folders in OneDrive
- Ransomware detection and recovering your files
Utilising our own web interface based on Veeam Backup for Office 365, we’ll also be demonstrating the benefits of a fully granular cloud-based backup solution with no pre-installation and the ability to restore and protect one of your company’s most valuable assets, your data.
Our CloudCover 365 solution is different, allowing all processes to be applied through a web browser and uniquely allows us to back up and recover O365 accounts protected with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
Of course, being able to back up accounts using MFA is vitally important to the client’s security, which is at the heart of everything we do.
Giving clients the flexibility and autonomy to manage their own backups in an easy to use way, or for resellers to manage multiple clients through the one portal also helps reduce admin costs. We are very excited to be able to demonstrate this in such an exclusive forum.
